Oppo’s former sub-brand Realme recently unveiled its first smartphone under the U-series — the Realme U1. The phone went on sale in India for the first time yesterday, exclusively through Amazon India.

Now, according to the company, it sold more than 205,400 units of Realme U1 in its first flash sale in India, that too within just six minutes. The company also held a second flash sale the same day on Amazon India but sales figures were not revealed.

Realme U1 India First Flash Sale

The Realme U1 is the company’s first selfie-centric smartphone and the world’s first devcie to be powered by MediaTek’s Helio P70 octa-core chipset. The phone, touted by the company as “India’s SelfiePro”, comes in three color options — Ambitious Black, Brave Blue, and Fiery Gold.

As for the pricing, the 3GB RAM model is priced at Rs. 11,999, which is roughly $170 while the 4GB RAM model costs Rs. 14,999, which approximately converts to $212. The company has scheduled the next sale for the smartphone on 12th December at 12:00 PM.

The Realme U1 sports a 6.3-inch Full HD+ dewdrop display with screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution, 90.8 percent screen-t0-body ratio and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The screen offers 450 nits of brightness and 1500:1 contrast ratio.

Under the hood, the device is powered by MediaTek’s Helio P70 chipset, which is built by TSMC using their 12nm FinFET technology and features Cortex-A73 and Cortex A53 cores in the same 4+4 arrangement, coupled with ARM Mali-G72 GPU.

The phone comes in two memory configurations — 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB of internal storage. There’s also a microSD card slot that enables users to further expand the phone’s storage capacity up to 256GB.

It features a dual camera setup on the back, consisting of a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. It comes with AI Photography and AI Beautigy+ features for enhancing the photography experience with support for Studio Portrait Lighting, Super Vivid 2.0 and AI Scene Detection as well as slow-motion video recording feature.

On the front side, the phone comes equipped with a 25-megapixel Sony IMX576 sensor with f/2.0 aperture and features like Smarter Groupfi for taking group selfies. It also supports AI Front Unlock feature that is claimed to unlock the phone in just 0.1 seconds.

Connectivity options on the device include Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac dual-band (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS. The phone is running Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box with ColorOS 5.2 on top and is powered by a 3,500mAh battery.
