Foldable phones are one of the most anticipated devices this year. Samsung already showed us its first foldable phone last year and it is expected to launch later this quarter. There are other manufacturers including Chinese OEMs who are also working on their own foldable phone. A video has surfaced on the web today that shows a foldable smartphone said to be made by Xiaomi.
The nineteen-second video was shared on Twitter by Evan Blass (@evleaks) and it shows the device which first appears to be a large tablet before it is then folded into a phone. The icons are similar to that of Xiaomi’s MIUI but the video is dark and we can’t make out any branding.
Can't speak to the authenticity of this video or device, but it's allegedly made by Xiaomi, I'm told. Hot new phone, or gadget porn deepfake? pic.twitter.com/qwFogWiE2F

Unlike Samsung‘s phone which has two displays, Xiaomi’s own has just one large flexible display. The screen seems to be divided into three and you can fold the left and right parts behind the middle portion to switch to phone mode. When folded, the device looks compact. However, we can’t tell how thick it is since the video is dark. Overall, Xiaomi’s foldable smartphone looks really neat and we can’t wait to see more videos and even images.
