Meizu has built a reputation for itself for the innovations on its smartphones. Except for complaints of lack of software support on Meizu models, the phones are just great. The Chinese tech giant is already gearing up to release its next-generation flagship tagged Meizu 16S. The Meizu 16s has been in the news for quite a while and most of the details of the flagship model has been revealed. There are indications the phone will not be shipping with an audio jack onboard. We say this because Meizu has listed a  USB-C to 3.5mm jack adapter on Meizu mall.

The adapter is dubbed Meizu HIFI decoding amp and is listed as coming soon. The price wasn’t revealed but some key features of the special adapter were listed. The adapter comes with a built-in Cirrus Logic CS43131 DAC chip. One end is a USB Type-C interface while the other end is 3.5mm headphone jack. The DAC chip is actually embedded on the USB-C end of the adapter. The chip integrates a high-fidelity headphone amplifier that delivers outstanding system-level audio performance with extremely low power consumption of only 23mW, supports high impedance (600Ω), 130 dBA dynamic range, and supports sampling frequencies up to 384 kHz. The price wasn’t listed but the device is said to be priced around 499 yuan.Meizu HIFI decoding amp

We recall that Meizu had first teased this HIFI device around November last year. Meizu’s CEO Jack Wong even shared two sketches, one of which is the design adopted for this HIFI adapter. The CEO hinted then that the technology on a Type-C cord will give consumers a better choice, and the sound quality can be better. Obviously, we don’t see the 16s packing a 3.5mm audio jack when this feature is likely to roll out with the Meizu 16s which would be launched soon.
