Manufacturers keep looking for ways to stand out from the competition. For the upcoming OnePlus flagship, OnePlus boasts the display is a game changer. In an exclusive interview with The Verge, Pete Lau, the CEO of OnePlus, has confirmed the OnePlus 7 Pro will have an impressive display.

In the interview, Pete Lau confirmed the names of the two phones expected to launch next month are OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. However, only the latter will be coming with this new display that costs them three times the usual budget for display panels.

Mr. Lau was careful not to provide any details of the display but he did say he was stunned the first time he saw it. The OnePlus 7 Pro’s screen will “redefine fast and smooth” and is “super-smooth and very crisp”.

The new display is said to have a refresh rate of 90Hz which is faster than that of most phones right now. OnePlus isn’t the first manufacturer to launch a phone with a higher refresh rate. Sharp, Razer, and ASUS all have phones with refresh rates higher than 60Hz. Except for ASUS, Sharp and Razer’s phones actually have a refresh rate of 120Hz.

As with all new OnePlus phones, this will be more expensive than the last. OnePlus will need to convince buyers that the increase in price is actually worth it. The OnePlus 7 itself won’t feature the new display and leaked specs say it will retain the 20W fast-charging technology of the OnePlus 6T and also have dual rear cameras. The Pro version not only gets a better display but also a bigger battery, three rear cameras, and 30W fast charging support.
