Xiaomi has an event in Nigeria on Wednesday, April 24, where it will announce the Redmi Note 7. But it is not the only big Chinese company that has its eyes set on the Nigerian smartphone market. One of its main rivals, OPPO, is also bringing its F11 Pro to the country.

The OPPO F11 Pro launched first in India last month. Now it is making its way to Nigeria. The mid-range phone is a more interesting device compared to the Redmi Note 7, thanks to its motorized pop-up selfie camera. The F11 Pro (6GB+64GB) is also more expensive, with a price tag double that of the Redmi Note 7 (4GB+64GB version). Both phones share some similarities such as having a 4,000mAh battery and 48MP primary rear camera.

OPPO will announce the F11 Pro at an event in Nigeria on Friday, 26th of April, 2019.
The phone has a 6.53-inch display with a 1080 x 2340 resolution. It is powered by MediaTek’s Helio P70 processor. Its “Rising Camera” is a 16MP f/2.0 sensor that slides out from the top frame. It also has dual rear cameras – a 48MP f/1.8 primary sensor paired with a 5MP f/2.4 depth sensor. It has a fingerprint scanner on the back, dual SIM slot, support for storage expansion, and runs ColorOS 6 based on Android 9 Pie. It also supports VOOC 3.0 (20W) fast charging.

The OPPO F11 Pro sells for INR 24,990 which roughly converts to NGN 130,000. At that price, there are a lot of options to choose from especially from more popular brands like Samsung and Huawei. However, OPPO might be able to win over customers with the F11 Pro’s pop-up camera which will be the first of its kind sold in Nigeria.
