A couple of years back, if someone said that Vivo was going to lead innovation in the smartphone industry, most wouldn’t have believed. But its NEX series has truly been revolutionary so far. From the world’s first pop-up cameras to a dual-screen flagship, the NEX 1 (S) and the NEX 2 (NEX dual) have shown how technology can help redesign the smartphone.

Now, the Vivo NEX 3 is here to take things to another level and the company’s latest teaser video shows off the device in all its glory!

(Someone has already uploaded the official Vivo teaser from Weibo to YouTube. Check it out from above. Official teaser link is in the source)

The Vivo NEX 3 is as revolutionary as we had expected. It will be the first phone to feature a waterfall screen, which is nothing but a display that is curved at the edges. While that’s pretty cool, the phone has a lot more tricks up its sleeve.

First, the Vivo NEX 3 will retain a pop-up camera just like its first-generation model. What’s interesting is that the pop-up camera module looks quite wide, which probably means it will likely feature dual cameras.

Coming to the rear camera setup at the back, the Vivo NEX 3 is confirmed to feature a triple camera setup inside a circular shaped housing. It’s clear that circular housing for rear cameras is going to be a thing in the second half of the year. The NEX 3 should be joined by the likes of Huawei Mate 30 Pro and even the OnePlus 7T in sharing a similar design in the coming weeks.

Finally, with all these features on board, you’d think that the NEX 3 is cramped for space from the inside. That’s usually the excuse we hear from all major smartphone makers when they remove the headphone jack. But even with an in-screen fingerprint, waterfall screen, and dual pop-up cameras, the NEX 3 will still retain the headphone jack. This is a major win for users who love their 3.5mm headphones, especially if the phone comes with a Hi-Fi audio chip. We also know for sure that the phone supports 5G.

Looks like Vivo has given top YouTubers like Arun Maini (MrWhoseTheBoss) access to the NEX 3 to play around with the device before launch.

We know that the NEX 3 will launch in September, but we still don’t have an official date. It’s really good to see that the real design is very close to the sketches that were revealed a few weeks back. Vivo is indeed leading the race in terms of next-gen smartphone design.
