Motorola hasn’t technically launched a flagship smartphone in over two years. But that’s going to change next month. Motorola has confirmed that it will launch a flagship device at MWC 2020 to be held from February 24 in Barcelona, Spain.

Motorola has started sending out media invites confirming a launch event on February 23 at 7 PM CEST, just a day before the MWC 2020 kicks off. This could be a smart move from the Lenovo owned brand given that both Samsung and Huawei are not going to launch their flagship devices at this event. So Motorola’s new smartphone could get a decent spotlight at the Barcelona event.

The company’s last true flagship was the Motorola Z2 Force, which was announced in August 2017. And the closest thing to a flagship smartphone from Motorola lately is the new Razr 2019. However, even the Razr caters to a niche market with mid-range specs.

We don’t have much information on what device is meeting us at the event, but it could likely be the rumored Motorola Edge+ that was spotted on Geekbench today.
