The latest Digitimes Research says that Global Tablet shipments will peak in Q4 2020. To be precise, it is reportedly going to hit a 13-quarter high towards the end of the year(Q4 2020).

The report predicts that Tablet shipments will rise 7.3% QoQ(Quarter-over-Quarter) in Q4 2020 globally. Such a result will reportedly be due to a steady rise in orders from SEA(South East Asia), India. And Latin America(LA) for educational purposes. Total tablet shipments globally in Q3 was about 43.83 million units with 10.5%QoQ and 0.4%YoY(Year-on-Year) rise. In this, non-Apple vendors dominated with aggressive pricing.

However, Apple leads the pack that has Samsung, Huawei, Amazon, and Lenovo in the next 4 places of Top vendors. Besides, Lenovo will likely topple Huawei, and Amazon to capture the third spot by expanding shipments in Q4. Back in Q2, Lenovo and Huawei were the fastest-growing tablet brands. However, Huawei is now hit by the US-sanctions which might bit it more at least in the near future.

Further, the report says that 10.1-inch and above-sized tablets shipped below 80% in Q3 as demands for lower sizes rose. However, when the pandemic was at peak, higher sized-tablets were in great demand for education, and media purposes. That said, If the report is true, this will further fall below 65% in Q4 due to new attractive offerings from Samsung, Microsoft(8x-11x size).

Additionally, shipments of ODMs(Original Design Manufacturers) in Taiwan like Compal Electronics rose to 40% as they clinched onto the new iPad Air 4. However, Foxconn slipped in Q3 albeit hovering just above 50%. iPad Air 3‘s shipments will reportedly die down more meaning Foxconn might fall below the said percent in Q4. Besides, rivals like Quanta and Pegatron will sore up in Q4 thanks to the new Microsoft Surface series of Tablets.
