Xiaomi-backed Redmi brand, which went independent last year, continues its successful run in the smartphone market. The company’s Redmi K30 series has been highly successful and now the company is gearing up to launch its successor.

The Redmi K40 series smartphones will be launched as the successor to the Redmi K30 devices. Now, ahead of the launch, some key details about the upcoming device have been leaked online.

Redmi K40 Details Leak

A new report coming from China claims that the upcoming Redmi K40 smartphone will come with an OLED display which will have support for the 120Hz refresh rate. It is also said that there will be a punch-hole cutout for the front-facing camera sensor.

Previously, it was leaked that the Redmi K40 Pro could get launched as the first smartphone to come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 flagship chipset. The chipset is expected to get launched in early December and will be manufactured using the 5nm process — same as the Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 9000 and Apple A14 Bionic.

On the other hand, the Redmi K40 is expected to come packed with the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC along with 5G connectivity support. It will feature Sony IMX686 64MP primary sensor and have support for 33W fast charging technology. There are also reports that the device could come powered by the Snapdragon 775G SoC.

Recently, Lu Weibing, General Manager of the Redmi brand and President of Xiaomi Group China had said that the Redmi K30 Pro will soon be discontinued, indicating that the next-generation Redmi K40 series could get launched soon.

As per the reports, the Redmi K40 is expected to go on sale by the end of this year while the Pro variant will be available for purchase sometime in the first quarter of next year. The launch timeline for both the devices is similar to its predecessor.
