Earlier this month, Micromax unveiled its first competitive smartphones in a long time in the form of IN 1b and IN Note 1. Both were made available for pre-order a few days ater the launch and the company even started shipping the former device to the customers shortly. However, the first sale for the former phone has been postponed. The firm is yet to announce the new sale date but ahead of it, new information about his handset’s software has emerged.

The Micromax IN 1b is a budget smartphone powered by MediaTek helio G35 chipset paired with LPDDR4X RAM and eMMC 5.1 storage. This device comes in two storage configurations – 2GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB priced at ₹6,999 ($95) and ₹7,999 ($108) respectively. These are known facts but what was unknown is its software.

According to Gadgets360, the base 2GB + 32GB variant of the phone runs Android 10 Go Edition. On the other hand, the higher 4GB + 64GB model runs the regular Android 10 operating system.

The publication found this difference in the official Flipkart listings of this phone dnd even Micromax has confirmed the same. For some reason, the company did not reveal this dissimilarity between the two memory variants at the virtual launch event.

Anyway, we should have seen this coming. Because a report from July revealed that phones launching with 2GB RAM or less must run Android Go Edition from Q4. That said, Android 10 Go Edition is not bad software per se since it is well-optimized for lower RAM devices.
