True wireless earphones (TWS) have now become a mainstream product and most of the smartphone makers have now launched their own TWS earbuds. Xiaomi is also among the leaders in this category.

Now, a new report coming from @DSP-Charles revealed that the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has rebuilt its team for the TWS product line and this new team is now taking over the task of upgrading the lineup of earphones.

The first major thing the team is tasked with is to upgrade the Xiaomi Air series true wireless earphones to the Xiaomi FlipBuds series. For those who are unaware, Xiaomi had trademarked the new TWS lineup — Xiaomi FlipBuds and FlipBuds Pro earlier this year.

The upcoming FlipBuds series will replace the existing Air lineup of TWS earphones but it remains to be seen when are how many wireless earphones get launched this year under the new lineup by Xiaomi.

Currently, Xiaomi has several true wireless earphones under the Air lineup, including the Air 2S, Air 2 SE, Air 2 Pro, AirDots, and more. As of now, there is nothing much known about the FlipBuds lineup but we expect to know more about it in the coming weeks.

According to the data from IDC, Xiaomi was the second leading wearable device maker last year with total shipments of 50.7 million units, capturing 11.4 percent of the market share. Total shipments of wearable devices reached 153.5 million units in Q4 2020, registering a growth of 27.2 percent.
