Sony took the center stage at CES 2019 when it announced a sleek, cool wireless speaker with a unique glass design. The speaker dubbed Sony LSPX-S2 wireless Bluetooth speaker has been on sale since then for a  hefty £550 price tag. Perhaps, the price tag has affected the sales figure as Sony has now announced a new version dubbed Sony LSPX-S2 glass speaker with a far cheaper price tag. Sony LSPX-S3 Glass Speaker

The new speaker is priced at $349 and adopts the same glass lantern-looking design which the first model heralded. The speaker vibrates a glass tube to act as a tweeter, a design that Sony claims projects sound in all directions. The glass also has a light embedded inside armed with 32 different brightness levels. This makes it possible for the speaker to perform the dual function of acting as a bedside lamp or for use as candlelight at the dinner table.Sony LSPX-S3 Glass Speaker

Apart from the glass tweeter, the LSPX-S3 speaker also features a mid-range driver while low-end notes are taken care of by a passive radiator. The device comes with support for Sony’s LDAC codec. In terms of battery life, the speaker can last up to 8 hours and it charges over USB-C.

Sony is expected to release the new LSPX-S3 glass speaker this August.
