Vivo has officially confirmed the brand’s first Imaging Chip V1 which is designed to improve the photography prowess of its smartphones. The company issued an official press release which unfortunately did not contain details of the technical feature of the new ISP chip. Vivo disclosed that the new V1 ISP chip is the product of 24 months of research and development by an R&D team made up of over 300 persons. The company hopes to approach the new development in four key directions: image system, operating system, industrial design, and performance. It did not state the stage the product is but considering it is tipped to feature on the upcoming Vivo X70 series, we can conclude that it is already in mass production.

Vivo’s Executive VP and COO Hu Baishan also hinted that the V1 chip can better serve user needs by “optimizing smartphone application scenarios such as viewfinder look and video recording”. Earlier on, the Vivo VP it was who confirmed that the chip will feature on the X70 series which is expected to go official on September 9.

Although the X70 series will include the X70X70 Pro, and X70 Pro+, the topmost Pro+ model is speculated to be the model that will feature the new ISP chip. Recall that the Vivo X70 Pro+ was earlier tipped to feature ZEISS’s original glass lenses.
