HTC Mobile is slowly rebuilding its business. The manufacturer has announced a few mid-range phones in the past year in select markets such as Russia and South Africa. Now, the Taiwanese company is ready to make its way back into the Korean market.

A Korean publication, ET News, has reported that HTC is planning to re-enter Korea and it has begun recruiting for some positions. The source reports that HTC is following in the footsteps of Motorola which recently launched a new phone in Korea after a 10 years hiatus. HTC had shut down its mobile business in the country back in December 2012 after disappointing sales.

HTC is said to be recruiting for a Business Development and Sales Manager whose job will include analyzing the market demand, creating business strategies, and establishing partnerships with carriers and partners.

The phones HTC is expected to announce in Korea will most likely be budget 5G smartphones but we won’t rule out the possibility of 4G phones priced under $150 such as the Wildfire E Lite and Wildfire E3 that were announced in the first quarter of this year.

Back in April, it was reported that HTC has plans to launch new 5G phones in the second quarter of the year but that didn’t happen. Nevertheless, it may still announce some new devices before the year ends.
