Meizu held a launch event today to announce the Meizu 18s, Meizu 18s Pro, and Meizu 18x. While the 18s models are just upgraded versions of the Meizu 18 and 18 Pro phones that debuted earlier this year, the Meizu 18x is an entirely new smartphone packed with impressive specs. Some of the major highlights of the 18x include a 120Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 870 chip, and 64-megapixel triple cameras.

Meizu 18x specifications and features

The Meizu 18x measures 165.1 x 76.35 x 7.99mm and weighs 189 grams. It has a 6.67-inch OLED panel with a centrally positioned punch-hole. It supports a Full HD+ resolution, a 20:9 aspect ratio, a 120Hz refresh rate, a 360Hz touch sampling rate, 395ppi pixel density, 10-bit colors, 700nits peak brightness, and an in-screen fingerprint scanner.

The Meizu 18x is the company’s first phone with Snapdragon 870 chipset. It ships with up to 12 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 7 GB of extended RAM.  The handset comes with up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It boots to Flyme 9.2 UI-based Android 11 OS.

The rear camera system of the Meizu 18x features a 64-megapixel Samsung GW3 main sensor, an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 2-megapixel depth assist lens. For selfies, it has a front camera of 13-megapixel. The 18x is backed by a 4,300mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging. It offers other features like dual SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, a USB-C port, and a 1217 super linear speaker.

Here is the pricing of the different variants of the Meizu 18x:

  • 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – 2,599 Yuan (~$401)
  • 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage – 2,799 Yuan (~$433)
  • 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage – 2,999 Yuan (~$464)

The first sale of the Meizu 18x will be carried out on Sept. 26. It will be available in hues such as black, white, and gradient blue.
