A number of smartphone makers are gearing up to launch their latest flagship smartphone following the announcement of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. One of the brands include Samsung, although, there might be a big change in its usual plans.

While the South Korean tech giant usually ships its flagship devices in both a Snapdragon and its proprietary Exynos chip variant, the version launched in India has traditionally been the latter. However, this might be changing as a new leak hints at the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 powered Galaxy S22 series is heading to India as well. The news arrives from known tipster Tron, who stated that the upcoming Galaxy S22 series Indian variant will skip the next gen Exynos in favor of the Snapdragon SoC for the first time ever in the region.

For those unaware, Samsung is working with AMD for its upcoming Exynos 2200 SoC, which features Team Red’s Radeon graphics. This chip is highly anticipated as it is expected to offer better graphics prowess along with other improvements in overall performance as well over the previous generation. Unfortunately, the company has yet to reveal anything as of right now. But, the new report claims that the brand could be relying more on Qualcomm chips for its 2022 flagship smartphones.

Notably, this could be quite an exciting news for Samsung customers in India as the Snapdragon variant has generally been seen as the superior version. This holds especially true with its recent flagship launches. Keep in mind that this is still an unconfirmed report, so take it with a pinch of salt for now and stay tuned for more updates.
