A recent Geekbench listing has been linked to the Sony Xperia 1 IV showing improvement in its single-core performance over its predecessor. There has been some hype around the Xperia 1 IV in recent weeks and this new Geekbench detail could point to an imminent launch. Although there is no official confirmation yet, a May 2022 release could be a possibility.
The suspected Xperia 1 IV listed as Sony XQ-CT54, came with an impressive Geekbench result for its single-core performance. There is also the likelihood that a variant of the smartphone will have eSIM capability. The Geekbench result provided by Smartphone Digest showed that a premium Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset will power the flagship. It could have up to 12GB of RAM, similar to its predecessor, the Xperia 1 III.
As per the Geekbench numbers, the multi-core performance of the Xperia 1 IV was similar to that of its predecessor, at 3,352 points. However, there is almost a 10% improvement in the single-core result at 1,204 points. It has to be stated however the allusion of this result to the Xperia 1 IV is at best, speculative. The eSIM capability will reportedly be available in the US and European markets. The suspense remains while we await definitive information from Sony on the Xperia 1 IV.
