Oppo has almost finished rolling out the Android 12-based ColorOS 12 update for eligible smartphones worldwide. The devices that are left are either budget models or very old flagships. The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom and Oppo Reno Ace come under the latter category. Users of these two phones can finally try Android 12 via a beta program.

According to schedules (China and global) shared by Oppo earlier this month, the ColorOS 12 beta initiative based on Android 12 for Oppo Reno 10x Zoom and Oppo Reno Ace is supposed today (May 17). However, the company had already opened registrations yesterday (May 16) and the window closes today itself for the first batch.

The beta program is also applicable to the special edition models. Hence, even users of Oppo Reno FC Barcelona Edition (customized Reno 10x Zoom) and Oppo Reno Ace Gundam Edition can apply for Android 12 beta testing.

The only requirement is that the users should be on the following firmware builds.

All they have to do is navigate to Settings > Software Update > Gear Icon >  Apply for Beta version > Update Beta Version and follow on-screen instructions. Selected applicants will receive the beta software via OTA.

There’s no official word on the release date of the stable update yet. However, we can expect it to arrive in a month or two.

Having said that, Android 12 is the third and the last major software update for the aforementioned smartphones. They are the first-gen Oppo smartphones to receive three Android updates.
