Sony had just recently announced its latest generation of flagship headphones, the WH-1000XM5. Now, the company has announced a new audio product, this time, its a new truly wireless earbuds called the LinkBuds S.

Sony LinkBuds S

Just yesterday, we had reported on a leak regarding these new wireless earphones. The report had stated that each earbud will weighs just 4.8 grams, which meant that they would be the smallest and lightest TWS earbuds in the market. And now, the Japanese tech giant has officially launched the hearables, and true to the report, it really is the lightest TWS in the world right now. For those unaware, the company had launched the LinkBuds a couple of months ago, which featured a unique open ring design. However, the new LinkBuds S features a more conventional closed design, but with a light body weight.

In other words, it is not surprising that Sony is marketing this aspect in particular, stating that the earbuds were made to be as comfortable as possible. It also arrives with an ergonomic form factor for a secure and irritation free wearing experience. Thanks to a new collaboration with Niantic, which is known for making Pokémon Go, the company is also working on an AR game called Ingress. This will use these earbuds’ spatial sound technology to “enable players to enjoy a new experience in which sound is delivered according to the direction they are facing.”

The LinkBuds S will offer a full day battery life, with about 6 hours of audio playback with ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) turned on, with an additional 14 hours of charging being offered by the charging case as well. A quick 5 minute charge will offer up to an hour of extra playback as well. The new earbuds is already available for pre-orders and is available in either White or Black color options. It has a suggested price of 200 US Dollars, which is more expensive than the non-S LinkBud model.
