There have been speculations that Apple will not use BOE as a supplier for the upcoming iPhone 14 OLED screen. However, a recent report from China says that the Chinese company is set to begin mass production of the iPhone 14 screens for Apple. BOE’s status as a supplier for the iPhone 14 OLEDs recently came under scrutiny due to design changes observed in the iPhone 13. BOE had been accused of unilaterally changing some design elements in the panel.boe display

BOE’s display panels for the iPhone 14 were reportedly certified by Apple last week. This paves the way for the company to deliver its supply target by starting production this month. While mass production commences by July ending, shipment of the panels will begin by September. September is a traditionally busy month for Apple when it usually announces its new iPhones.

BOE is expected to deliver up to 5 million iPhone 14 display panels which are about 5.6% of the 90 million units Apple requires. Samsung has the bulk of the supply order with 60 million units (~67%). BOE will only supply the 6.1-inch LTPS OLED panels for the iPhone 14 vanilla model. It is unclear what is the distribution of panels according to the different models in the iPhone 14 lineup. If the news is confirmed, then BOE will be offering such a service to Apple for the third time after delivering on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13. Neither BOE nor Apple has provided any details yet on the matter at this time.
