Google did something unique with the design of the Pixel 6 series. The phones looked like no other from the back. The visor-like camera bar isn’t just aesthetic, but it also gives the Pixel series a new identity. However, it seems Google is going to do more with its phone’s design. As per a popular tipster, big G might be working on a new Pixel smartphone made from ceramic materials.

According to popular Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, Google is joining hands with Foxconn, the company that also manufactures the iPhone, to build a mysterious Pixel flagship and the long-rumored Pixel foldable phone in China (via 9to5Google).

This comes as a surprise because back in 2020, Google moved its manufacturing operations from China to Vietnam. But what’s more interesting is the tipster’s claim that the unnamed Pixel device in the works will be clad in ceramic materials.

Google has already used plastic, glass, and metal in the phones, but it has never tried its hands on ceramic. So, if the tipster’s claims are anything to go by, we might soon be seeing the first Pixel smartphone with ceramics.

Details about the ceramic Pixel are pretty short, of course. But the tipster suggests it will feature a 2K display with a center punch-hole for the selfie camera. It will be powered by the Tensor 2 chipset which also be found in the upcoming Pixel 7 smartphones.

Further, the device is said to have a 50MP camera and a periscope lens. The tipster also mentions a Sony IMX787 64 MP sensor which would be used for the telephoto camera. It will be interesting to see how this alleged ceramic Pixel will compete against the iPhones and Galaxy S22 Ultras of the world.
