Recently, we had covered news regarding Nio working on its first ever smartphone. Now, a new report has revealed some interesting details regarding the popular EV maker’s upcoming first smartphone.

According to an ArenaEV report, sources close to the matter have revealed details regarding the chipset that will power this new handset as well as its charging capacity as well. For those unaware, Nio is a known electric vehicle manufacturer that is based in China. The brand’s founder had revealed that it planned on launching a new phone a year and wanted to make it a high end flagship product.

Now, the latest report has reveled that this Nio branded smartphone will feature a flagship level Snapdragon chipset from Qualcomm. In other words, the most likely candidate that fits the bill is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, which is the chipmaker’s latest and greatest smartphone processor. However, considering that the first smartphone in question is set to launch sometime next year, it is also likely that it will launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Apart from this, the report adds that the smartphone will sport a QHD+ curved display that will have an ultrasonic fingerprint reader and a punch hole camera at the front.

Interestingly, Nio already employs Qualcomm chips for its EV’s infotainment systems. This includes chips like the Snapdragon 8155. The brand has also developed its own custom OS as well for the EV’s interface, so we can also expect the smartphone to feature a custom skin as well. Lastly, the final detail revealed in the report was that the Nio handset will feature a battery that supports 100W fast charging, with the capacity being around 4,500mAh to 4,800mAh.
