Samsung’s Expert RAW app has been available for the Galaxy S22 series and a few other Galaxy smartphones for quite some time. Now, the South Korean company is releasing a new update for Expert RAW which will extend its compatibility to three of its older flagships—the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, S20 Ultra, and Z Fold2. Here are the details.

As per a community post, Samsung has rolled out an update to the Expert RAW app which enables support for the Galaxy S20 Ulta, Note 20 Ultra, and Fold 2 smartphones (Via GoAndroid). However, Samsung warns that the quality and processing times will vary in the smartphones due to their age and inability to match the processing power of current flagship devices.

Some explanations might be in order if you’re not familiar with Samsung’s Expert RAW. People with experience in photography can use this app to capture images with a wider dynamic range than the standard camera app. It also offers a huge range of manual shooting controls. Furthermore, you can take pictures in RAW, so you can edit them in apps such as Adobe Lightroom afterward.

Samsung is working to bring more features to the app. However, don’t expect all of them to be available on older devices. Some features will only be available on the latest flagships since they have the required hardware to support them. Samsung is reported to be testing the ability to set custom shutter speed, ISO, and preferences in the Hyperlapse video recording mode.

If you own the above-mentioned Samsung smartphones and want to try your hands on the Expert RAW app, you can download it from the Galaxy App Store.
