Earlier this year, ZTE launched its flagship smartphone in the form of the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra, which features an under-display front-facing camera. Now, the company is all set to announce a new Aerospace Edition of the smartphone in the Chinese market.

The ZTE Axon 40 Ultra Aerospace Edition has been teased by the company through a teaser poster. The poster reads, “Space Fortress, about to set sail, TAIKONAUT (Chinese Astronaut),” and Wu Jing has been roped in as a brand ambassador.

As of now, the official launch date is not known, but we expect to get launch information in the coming days. While not much has been revealed about this upcoming smartphone, it appears to be a direct successor of the Axon 30 Ultra Aerospace Edition launched last year with 18GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage.

The teaser poster shared by the company showcases the smartphone’s back panel in which the camera module consisting of three sensors is placed at the top-left corner. The phone shown in the hands of Wu Jing has a Black colored body.

As the phone will be a variant of the Axon 40 Ultra, we expect most specifications to be similar. The ZTE Axon 40 Ultra features a 6.81-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ screen resolution of 2480 x 1116 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

There’s also a 16-megapixel under-display camera with 2.24μm large pixels, and it uses a third-generation of the under-display camera from ZTE. On the back, there’s a triple-camera setup consisting of a 64MP Sony IMX787 primary sensor, another 64MP Sony IMX787 sensor, and a 64MP telephoto periscope lens.

The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. We expect the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra Aersospace Edition to come packed with up to 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 3.1 storage. It may run the Android 12 operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own MyOS 12 custom interface on top. It is likely to be powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging.
