MediaTek is gearing up to launch a new mid-range chipset in China, dubbed Dimensity 8200. The processor was originally scheduled to launch on December 1, but the event got canceled, reportedly due to the demise of China’s former leader Jiang Zemin. Now, the semiconductor company has rescheduled the launch event for tomorrow. iQOO Neo7 SE, which will launch on the same day as the processor, will be the first phone to feature it.

MediaTek announced through a Weibo post that the latest Dimensity 8200 processor will launch in China on December 8. It’s possible the chipset will be unveiled alongside the iQOO Neo7 SE and iQOO 11 series. The new chip will be more focused on energy efficiency.

Mediatek Demensity 8200 launch

While MediaTek hasn’t revealed much information about the upcoming SoC, some leaks claim it will come with four Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores. There will likely be one A78 core clocked at 3.1GHz, three A78 cores at 3.0GHz, and four efficient cores A55 at 2.0GHz. It will retain the Mali-G610 MC6 GPU found on the Dimensity 8100.

As mentioned, iQOO Neo7 SE will be the first device to be powered by the Dimensity 8200 chip. The handset is expected to feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display that offers an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It will have a 16-megapixel front camera. For photography, it will likely have a triple camera setup, comprising a 64-megapixel main camera with OIS, a 2-megapixel macro, and a 2-megapixel depth assist lens.

The smartphone could come with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It will be backed by a 5000mAh battery that supports 120W fast charging. On the software front, it will run OriginOS 3-based Android 13 OS.
