Accessory maker staff confirms latest Apple iOS update encrypts USB-C on iPads and Macs
Rumors that emerged recently suggest that the USB-C port and charging cables on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro will feature a Lightning-like authenticator chip. Lastly, the technical staff at FiiO confirmed that the latest iOS system has encrypted the USB-C port of their devices, causing restrictions for non-certified accessories.
The staff advises not updating the device software for now to ensure compatibility with accessories. In the future, only certified accessories will have full access to the USB-C port, potentially causing non-certified accessories to not work with the latest iPhones. This move by Apple is seen as a way to control the quality of accessories used with their devices. Unfortunately, this is not the only negative development.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the USB-C port on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will remain limited to USB 2.0 speeds, the same as Lightning. Fortunately, this will not be the case with the iPhone 15 Pro series.
