In December 2022, Nubia unveiled the Nubia Z50 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset onboard. The device came equipped with other attractive features, including a marvellous curved-edge display, 64-megapixel dual cameras, and a 5,000mAh battery. The ZTE sub-brand has now unveiled the Nubia Z50 Ultra as its second Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered phone. Being an “Ultra” model, it offers enhanced specs over the Z50. The USP of the device is that it comes equipped with a notch-less AMOLED display with ultra-thin bezels.

The Z50 Ultra is equipped with a custom-made 16-megapixel OmniVision OV16E1Q under-display camera with a 2.24μm super large pixel size. The company said that the light transmittance has increased by 30 precent. This allows the Z50 Ultra to capture better selfie shots than before. In addition, the AI super-sensing engine and image super-transparency enhancement technology assist in increasing screen transparency by 50 percent for video calls.

Moving to the rear camera department, it features a 35mm 64-megapixel Sony IMX787 main camera with OIS support, an 85mm 64-megapixel periscope zoom camera with OIS support, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, which doubles up as a macro camera. The rear cameras are assisted by a ring LED flash and multi-channel spectral sensors.
