GoRetroid has announced the Retroid Pocket Flip handheld gaming console. The Retroid Pocket Flip is designed with inspiration from Nintendo DS with a clamshell design that will be available in several colors.
The latest addition to the Retroid family of handheld, the Retroid Pocket Flip closely resembles the Nintendo DS Lite. The Nintendo DS is one of the most popular gaming handhelds ever released.
The Retroid Pocket Flip measures 139 x 82 x 25.4 mm so it is slightly thicker than the DS Lite. It has trigger buttons on the back of the device and also a standard array of buttons. The buttons include four-face buttons, a directional pad, two middle buttons, and two flat joysticks. There are also two shoulder buttons (L1 and R1), in addition to the trigger buttons (L2 and R2).
The Retroid Pocket Flip’s joysticks are seemingly surface-mounted and will likely function similarly to the Nintendo DS slider joysticks. Connectivity options for the handheld are USB-C, a headphone jack, and a micro-HDMI port. The handheld will also have slots for microSD cards.
The full hardware specs of the handheld are not yet released, as the company says it will announce these details this week. The model should at least come with similar or better specs than the Retroid 3+. The Retroid 3+ can emulate several PlayStation 2 titles and most GameCube games. The Pocket Flip will be available in five color options but the release date remains under wraps.
