Most wireless earbuds we see nowadays have a fairly standard design. Nothing (the company) tried to spice things up with its Ear (1) and Ear Stick TWS earphones but that’s about it. However, soon we’ll be getting a rather interesting pair of earbuds from Huawei. These hearables will debut on March 23 with a unique waterdrop-shaped design that looks quite unique. Ahead of the formal launch, the Huawei FreeBuds 5 have leaked in several live images. Let’s have a look.

Leaked images posted by users on Weibo reveal the distinctive design of the upcoming Huawei FreeBuds 5. The earbuds feature a waterdrop-shaped structure with a rounded handle, a textured appearance, and a semi-in-ear for a comfortable fit with no discomfort. The earbuds are also lightweight, with a weight of only 5.5g each, while the charging case weighs 44.4g, bringing the total weight of the set to 55.3g.

The FreeBuds 5 are reported to support active noise cancellation and LDAC sound quality. They will also come with adaptive environmental noise reduction and equip various customizations option to change swipe, double tap and hold actions. This is definitely a significant upgrade over the FreeBuds 4 in terms of sound quality and noise reduction. The earbuds are HWA/ Hi-Res Audio Wireless gold standard certified for an assured solid audio output.

Other details about the wireless earphones are still not known. Huawei has confirmed it will be launching the FreeBuds 5 in China on March 23 alongside the Huawei P60 series, Mate X3 foldable, and the MatePad 11 (2023). The new hearables should also make it to the global market in the near future.
