The tech giant’s Flood Hub leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to provide estimated water levels for flood-prone areas over the next seven days, offering crucial information to local residents, governments, and organizations involved in flood response.

With the expansion of Flood Hub’s coverage, an estimated 460 million people will benefit from this cutting-edge technology as they confront the challenges posed by our changing climate. Google’s commitment to supporting communities affected by flooding is reflected in its decision to extend the flood forecast from 48 hours to a more comprehensive seven-day period. Yossi Matias, Google’s Vice President of Engineering and Research and Head of Crisis Response, provided insights into the technology behind Flood Hub.
