Original and unboxed iPod sold

The first-generation iPod was launched way back in 2001 by the late Steve Jobs. It had a sleek design and popularized portable music players making it a dream gadget for music lovers. The iPod was priced at $399 then.

This original and sealed iPod has been sold by Rally which is a platform for collectors to buy shares of rare collectible items. It was put up for sale in 2021 in the form of 5,000 shares priced at $5. However, it received a buyout offer worth $29,000 which is a significant price increase over its original selling price. As per the platform, 61.98 percent of shareholders were in favor of the buyout and the sale was completed.

Rally did not reveal the identity of the person who bought the iPod first-generation. The original device was purchased as a Christmas present by Fred and Betty Goodwin. It remained unopened for two decades and the portal music player comes in the original packaging along with an iPod sleeve and the Blue-colored original Apple Store bag.

The iPod was launched as a revolutionary music device with the tagline “Say hello to iPod. 1,000 songs in your pocket.”
