Apple‘s upcoming “Let Loose” event on May 7th is expected to launch the latest iPad Pro lineup. While the company remains tight-lipped on the details, leaks so far suggest significant upgrades for the new iPads including OLED displays, MagSafe charging support, and a performance boost with M3 chip.

However, insider Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter suggests that Apple might skip the M3 chip altogether and jump straight to the M4 for the new Pro iPads.

Apple M4 chip in iPad Pro leak

If this pans out to be true, the upcoming iPad Pro would be the first Apple device to feature the new M-series chip. Gurman says that the highlight of the M4 would be its upgraded Neural Engine which will improve the performance of AI tasks.

In fact, Apple might position upcoming tablets as its “first truly AI-powered device,” according to Gurman. However, detailed specifics about the new System on Chip (SoC) are still under wraps.

The overall design of the new iPad Pro is expected to remain similar to existing models and there will be two screen sizes: 11 inches and 12.9 inches. But the biggest upgrade could be the inclusion of OLED displays.

Furthermore, Gurman revealed that the Apple Pencil that will be announced at the event will include haptic feedback for the first time. Although details are scarce, the stylus might include a Taptic Engine that will vibrate when you switch between drawing tools and more.

He also hinted at the launch of a revamped keyboard accessory with a larger trackpad and an aluminum deck, possibly resembling a MacBook keyboard for a more premium feel.
