Chinese manufacturer BYD is set to launch its new Seal DM-i hybrid sedan at the Chengdu Auto Show on August 25. The company has announced that the vehicle will be available for pre-order during the event. The first batch of this vehicle was produced on July 19, and BYD claims it aims to “disrupt the traditional midsize sedan market.”

The BYD Seal DM-i costs betweenn 180,000 and 250,000 yuan ($25,000 – $35,000). You can pick from two types of engines The XiaoYun Plug-in Hybrid Specific 1.5L efficient engine and the XiaoYun Plug-in Hybrid Specific 1.5T turbocharged engine. Both work with a special hybrid system and powerful batteries made just for these kinds of cars.

The Seal DM-i offers a fuel consumption of 3.9 liters per 100 kilometers and an acceleration time of 0-100km/h in just 7.9 seconds. It also offers two NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) pure electric driving ranges: 121 km and 200 km.
