Purism has announced the Librem 11 – its first foray into tablet manufacturing. The Librem 11 is an 11.5-inch Linux tablet that uses Purism’s secure PureBoot technology focused on privacy. The new slate runs on the Debian-based (Linux) PureOS from the box.

The Purism debut tablet comes with features that a decent for starters. It offers a balance between performance and power efficiency. The Librem 11 has an AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and a 60Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Intel N5100 Quad Core CPU and Intel UHD Graphics. The slate has an 8GB LPDDR4 (soldered) memory and 1TB NVMe storage. The tablet weighs 560g and is priced within the $1000 band.

The Purism Librem 11 slate has two USB 3.1 Type-C inputs and a 3.5mm audio/ mic jack. The USB-C input supports both power delivery and charging. A microSD card slot is also available on the tablet, as well as a fingerprint reader. The gadget is equipped with the Intel AX201 Wi-Fi 6 for wireless connectivity and the Intel 9460 Bluetooth 5 chipset for Bluetooth connectivity. The Librem 11 comes with a dual camera setup including a 5MP auto-focus rear camera. Purism included a keyboard and stylus pen as part of the bundled accessories of the Librem 11.

The Purism Librem 11 bundled keyboard is connected via USB to the tablet and does not support wireless operation. The keys are uniformly covered and this prevents dust from getting under them. The design of the keyboard also limits the risk of wobbly buttons. The stylus pen can be charged via USB-C and features 4096 pressure levels and tilt support. The pen magnetically attaches the stylus to the top edge of the tablet. The Purism Librem 11 is available for purchase from the Purism website and is priced at $999.
