Logitech has announced a new webcam, called the Logitech Reach, designed to make it easy for educators and content creators to show their audience an overhead or close-up view of objects on a desk. The Reach is essentially an HD webcam mounted on a hinged, articulating system. Here are all the details.

The Reach features a Logitech StreamCam webcam mounted on a flexible, articulating arm, which can be smoothly moved horizontally and vertically to get the perfect shot. The camera can also be rotated and pointed at any angle, from straight down to front-facing, giving users complete control over their perspective.
The Reach is perfect for a wide range of tasks, including teaching, creating content, and video conferencing. The company says it is particularly well-suited for non-digital show-and-tell presentations, as the downward angle allows you to capture video of objects on your desk.
The Reach also has a number of features that make it easy to use. This includes a button for vertical movement and lossless zoom up to 4.3x. There are even built-in guidance indicators to help you keep the image upright as you move the camera.
Using the webcam is pretty easy too. You will need to simply clamp its base to the edge of your desk or table, and then position the camera arm so that the webcam is pointing at the object you want to show. The Reach can be rotated and pointed at any angle, from straight down to front-facing towards one’s face.

It also has a neat trick to ensure an upright image and prevent accidentally orienting it to, say, upside down. A rotating ring around the camera with visible markings indicates the upright orientation without having to check the screen.

Logitech has not yet announced the launch date or price for the Reach. However, the company is running an Indiegogo Enterprise campaign to gain some feedback from potential users.
