Industry veteran Garmin has announced a new smartwatch. The latest offering is the Garmin Vivoactive 5. Last month, the brand had announced the Venu 3 and Venu 3S. The Vivoactive 5 arrives as the successor to the aging Vivoactive 4 that debuted way back in 2019. It packs notable improvements as well as a cheaper price tag compared to its predecessor. The Vivoactive 5 is a mid-tier smartwatch. Read on to know what it offers out of the box. 

Garmin Vivoactive 5 specifications and features

The Garmin Vivoactive 5 has a circular dial with two buttons on the right side. It features a 1.2-inch AMOLED display bearing a pixel resolution of 390 x 390 pixels and an Always-on display mode. The screen is shielded by Gorilla Glass 3 and the smartwatch is water-resistant up to 50 meters. 

In terms of health and fitness, as usual, the Garmin Vivoactive 5 is equipped with a heart-rate monitor along with HRV status, body battery energy monitor, women’s health tracking (menstrual cycle, pregnancy), SpO2 sensor, stress tracker, and nap detection. It also packs meditation sessions, mindful breathing, and hydration reminders. The smartwatch offers a sleep coach, morning report, health snapshots, and respiration details. 

The Garmin Vivoactive 5 comes with advanced fitness features. There is a wheelchair mode with specific workouts for users who use a wheelchair. The wearable device has 30 pre-loaded indoor sports. It also has additional features like interval creation, perceived exertion, intensity minutes, and VO2 Max. 

The Garmin Vivoactive 5 allows users to respond to texts via the connected Android phone. It has Garmin Pay and 4GB storage with support for music apps like Spotify, Deezer, and Amazon Music. The smartwatch also packs incident detection that will send a message with live location to the user’s contacts. The Garmin Vivoactive 5 is claimed to last up to 11 days under smartwatch mode. With GPS usage, it is said to last 21 hours. 

The Garmin Vivoactive 5 is priced at $299. It is offered in black, ivory, navy, and orchid colors. The smartwatch is available for purchase starting today (Amazon).
