Samsung continues to expand its product family. While many of us recognize the South Korean tech giant for consumer electronics like smartphones, TVs, and refrigerators, the company offers much more than that. For instance, Samsung Display produces screens not only for Samsung but also for competitors like Apple. This allows the company to operate in various domains and pioneer innovative new technologies.

Their latest introduction is the Low Power Compression Attached Memory Module, or LPCAMM. Samsung announced today that LPCAMM offers up to 128GB of DDR5 for laptops in 60% less space. Here are the details…

New Samsung LPCAMM Memory Modules Offer Up to 128GB of DDR5 for Laptops in 60% Less Space

Samsung has unveiled a new memory module named Low Power Compression Attached Memory Module or LPCAMM. The biggest difference between this memory technology and traditional DDR5 memory is its overall higher efficiency. Samsung states that the new LPCAMM modules can achieve up to 7.5 gigabits-per-second of memory throughput, which is 50% more than the current SO-DIMM memory modules.

Furthermore, LPCAMM modules consume 70% less power, which can enhance battery life in laptops and other mobile devices. Additionally, they accomplish all of this while taking up 60% less space. The smaller size of LPCAMM memories could lead to the development of thinner and lighter laptops.

Samsung says that LPCAMM modules could also be used in other types of mobile devices, such as tablets and smartphones. The company has not yet announced when LPCAMM modules will be available to consumers. However, the company says that it is working with partners to bring LPCAMM-equipped devices to market in the near future.
