OnePlus is getting ready to release its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 12, in the coming months. This new phone is expected to come with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. Additionally, there are rumors circulating that OnePlus may also be developing a new flagship smartwatch known as the OnePlus Watch 2.

OnePlus Watch

Known tipster Max Jambor recently made a tweet hinting at an upcoming smartwatch by the brand. The leaker claims that the OnePlus Watch 2 will feature a circular design, like its predecessor, and will launch sometime in 2024. While it is unconfirmed what operating system OnePlus will opt for, rumblings around the internet say that it will be based on WearOS this time around.

Many of you might remember the original OnePlus Watch that launched back in 2021. The tech community was buzzing with enthusiasm when it debuted, however, the enthusiasm quickly turned cold as people realized that the OnePlus Watch was nothing more than a glorified smart band running on a custom RTOS.

The watch was selling so poorly that the brand had to discontinue it in 2022. With that track record, it would be a wise choice to include a WearOS-based operating system. Netizens are also hopeful that Oppo will lend a hand with the software polish as their smartwatches are known to be among the best Android smartwatches out there.

If the brand does go with Wear OS, it will likely be the latest WearOS 4, which was unveiled back in May and is already onboard the Pixel Watch 2 and Samsung smartwatches. The new OS has a bunch of intriguing features like Dynamic Theming, Tiles, splash screen, and more.
