Chinese electronics giant TCL first announced the RayNeo X2 AR glasses at CES 2023 in January. Ordinarily, many would have thought the AR glasses were just a concept product that may not hit store shelves. However, the company has launched the RayNeo X2 in its home market of China where it is now available to pre-order.
The RayNeo X2 features a pair of Micro-LED displays with impressive specifications, including a peak brightness of 1,000 nits and an outstanding contrast ratio of 100,000:1. Each display operates at a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels per eye, offering a 25-degree field of view (FoV) with 32 pixels per degree (PPD). Powering these impressive features is the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 platform, supported by 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The device is equipped with a 590 mAh battery that can provide up to 3 hours of continuous usage.
In terms of design, the AR glasses are lightweight, tipping the scales at just 119 grams. They also include a 16 MP front-facing camera capable of capturing 1080p video at 30 FPS. For audio, the RayNeo X2 combines stereo speakers with three microphones, ensuring high-quality audio transmission.
Pricing & Availability
As for the price, the TCL Rayneo X2 AR glasses carry a retail price tag of 4,499 Yuan (approximately $617) in China. The smart glasses are expected to eventually make it to other markets. Already, it is listed on TCL’s US website which is an indication that the product will be available in other markets outside China. t
