The tech brand also promoted the new AirPods Pro 2’s compatibility for USB Type-C charging, which sets them apart from their predecessor’s Lightning design. At first, the only option for adding USB Type-C charging to an already-owned pair of AirPods Pro 2 was buying a new earphone set.
Now, the company has taken nearly three months to release its revised charging case, which is available for purchase in certain regions.
To facilitate speedy case position identification, the U1 chip with Precision Finding is included inside the MagSafe Charging Case (USB-C) for AirPods Pro (2nd generation).
Moreover, you may use the built-in speaker to play music if you’re close by but still can’t find it. Your case may be kept close at hand by attaching a lanyard loop to a handbag or backpack.
Although this is a far lower IP rating than Apple’s current iPhones, the new charging cover also has IP54 dust, sweat, and water protection, meaning it is made to withstand the elements.
Using a MagSafe charger or an Apple Watch, you may charge the MagSafe Charging Case. Additionally, a Qi-certified charger or a USB-C connection are other options.
Apple’s USB Type-C charging case costs 99 USD. Put another way, the charging case alone costs almost 40% more than a brand-new pair of AirPods Pro 2, making it a costly upgrade for current users.
