Asus’s Chinese division recently confirmed that it will unveil the ROG Phone 8 series of gaming smartphones on Jan. 16 in China. Rumors surrounding the series suggest that it will not be entirely gaming-focused like the predecessor models. The leaked renders of the ROG Phone 8 series and its specifications indicate a toned-down design with more emphasis on camera specifications, a departure from previous models. Today, the brand released the following teaser to reveal one of the camera capabilities of the ROG Phone 8 lineup.

ROG Phone 8 to offer gimbal stabilization

In a Weibo post, Asus stated, “Concerned about shaky hands while shooting videos? The ROG Phone 8 series comes equipped with an anti-shake gimbal to address this  issue.”A recent report leaked all the major specs of the ROG Phone 8 and the ROG Phone 8 Pro.

It is speculated that the ROG Phone 8 Pro will arrive with an OIS-enabled 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 primary camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 32-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. However, there is no information about the camera specifications of the ROG Phone 8. It is likely to have a similar camera setup, minus the telephoto camera. With ample time remaining for the launch, Asus is expected to reveal more details about the ROG Phone 8 series through new teasers in the coming days.

As per reports, the ROG Phone 8 series will sport a new display design featuring a punch-hole screen with a centred punch-hole. It will have a 6.78-inch FHD+ 165Hz AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, a 5,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging support, a 32-megapixel front camera, and an IP68-rated chassis.
