Xiaomi is reportedly working on a new Redmi A series smartphone. The device in question is the Redmi A3. But ahead of its official announcement, the smartphone was spotted on a certification platform in Thailand. So here’s everything we know so far.

Redmi A3 surfaces on NBTC

Redmi A2

The Chinese tech giant’s upcoming A3 model was recently spotted on the NBTC database. Looking at the listing, the smartphone can be seen carrying the 23129RN51X model number. While this model number was initially spotted by other certification authorities like IMDA and EEC, the NBTC confirms the Redmi A3 moniker. The smartphone is confirmed to support GSM/WCDMA/LTE connectivity along with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi networking as well.

Unfortunately, finer details regarding the device like its specs, pricing, or design are still unclear. Although, the multiple certification sightings hint that the launch is just around the corner. The device is likely the direct successor to the Redmi A2 model, which launched earlier this year. So we can expect the A3 to offer slight improvements but also target the budget entry smartphone segment. To recall, the Redmi A2 launched with a 6.52-inch IPS LCD panel that has an HD+ resolution and 60Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, the handset is equipped with the MediaTek Helio G36 SoC that is paired with up to 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The storage can be further expanded by up to 1TB via a microSD card slot. This model launched with Android 12 Go edition out of the box and was powered by a large 5,000mAh battery pack that supports standard 10W charging. The rear packs an 8-megapixel dual camera setup, while the front houses a 5-megapixel selfie shooter.
