Asus has already confirmed that it will unveil the ROG Phone 8 series along with some other devices on Jan. 8, 2024, through the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024. The lineup is expected to include at least two models, such as the ROG Phone 8 and the ROG Phone 8 Pro. Yesterday, the NBTC certification platform in Thailand approved the ROG Phone 8 Pro. Now, the standard ROG Phone 8 has surfaced in the database of NBTC ahead of the official announcement.
Asus ROG Phone 8 receives NBTC certification
The NBTC listing shows that the ASUS device bearing the ASUS_AI2401_C model number will be called the ROG Phone 8 when it launches in Thailand. The same model number has been previously spotted in Bluetooth SIG certification.
A recent report leaked almost all the details about the ROG Phone 8. Here is a look at the expected specifications of the device.
Asus ROG Phone 8 specifications (rumored)
The ROG Phone 8 will have a 6.78-inch AMOLED display that offers an FHD+ resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. It will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 12 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, and 256 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The device is expected to run on Android 14 and ROG UI.
There is no information about the front and rear cameras of the ROG Phone 8. It is expected to pack a 5,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging.
The gaming phone is also expected to come with other features, such as an in-display fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm audio jack, a 5-magnet speaker system, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, an RBG-lit rear logo, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection for the display. In addition, it will have an IP68-rated chassis.
