Last month, the Red Magic 8 Pro received the much-awaited Red Magic OS 8.0 update for the global models. The update made improvements in many areas and also fixed some bugs, however, it did not include Android 14. Now, Red Magic has officially announced the rollout of Red Magic OS 9.0 Beta to Red Magic 8 Pro smartphones with a promise of an official release in the coming weeks.
We already know that the RedMagic OS 9.0, which debuted with the RedMagic 9 Pro series smartphones in November last year is based on Android 14. So there’s that to look forward to. We can also expect some major bug fixes, like the finicky fingerprint sensor finally getting a fix. We can also expect some new AI-assisted features to be onboard in addition to improved customization and theming options introduced with Android 14.
Red Magic 8 Pro specs:
The Red Magic 8 Pro boasts a 6.8-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 12GB RAM, and UFS 4.0 storage. It features a Redcore R2 game chip, ICE 11.0 magic cooling system, and triple-camera setup (50MP primary, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro). With a 16MP under-display front camera, Android 13 with RedMagic OS, and a 6,000mAh battery, it supports 80W wired and 65W wireless charging.
