A recent Weibo leak revealed a new feature for upcoming Huawei smartwatches: no-touch car control. A video shows a user with a circular Huawei smartwatch interacting with a Huawei car. As the user gets near, the headlights project a “Kunpeng swimming” animation, and the car unlocks automatically.

According to the leak, this technology is called ICCE UWB (Ultra Wide Band) no-touch car control and represents a collaboration between Huawei’s smartwatch and the Wenjie M9. When the user is within an 8-meter radius of the car, the welcome lights illuminate sequentially, followed by the “Kunpeng” projection. Simultaneously, the car unlocks as the user gets closer.

The smartwatch, expected to launch alongside the Huawei P70 this month, will be the first globally to support this UWB technology. While speculation surrounds the exact model, it could be either the previously leaked Huawei Watch 4 Pro Space Exploration Edition or an entirely new smartwatch series. The design of the Space Exploration Edition was revealed earlier this week, featuring a dark color scheme with a red-textured bezel and dark titanium casing.

Huawei’s HarmonyOS Spring Communication Conference, reportedly scheduled for April 11th, is expected to unveil new car and PC products. The event might focus on the relaunch of the Luxeed S7, Huawei’s first co-developed car with Chery. Regulatory filings hint at two new electric sedan versions with dimensional and weight adjustments, potentially retaining the original pricing. Additionally, a refresh of the MateBook X Pro lineup is anticipated, with the 2024 model recently certified.

However, the launch of the Huawei P70 flagship phone remains uncertain. The absence of offline stores’ pre-order activities suggests a possible launch event cancellation and it may go on sale directly.
