Realme, the Chinese smartphone giant, has launched a new P-series designed exclusively for the Indian market. The series will be sold exclusively through the e-commerce platform Flipkart.

The announcement was made by Realme Vice President, Chase Xu, on X (formerly Twitter). Xu emphasized that Realme’s goal is to make popular technology more accessible and offer a better experience in the mid-range smartphone market.

The Realme P-series, where the “P” stands for “Power,”  will offer premium features at affordable prices, specifically targeting young customers.

According to a report by ET Telecom, the P-series will serve the Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 price band, positioned squarely above the budget-focused C-series. The company is reportedly aiming for 50 million P-series smartphone sales this year

“We are targeting tech-savvy users. They look at products with maximum technology and features that are available in their budgets,” said Tarini P Das, Director of Sales and Business Development at Realme India to ET Telecom.

Realme P-series India launch

While exact hardware and software specifications of the P-series remain under wraps, Realme has reportedly collaborated with renowned Indian visual artist P.S. Rathor as a co-designer. So you can expect visually stylish phones under the new Realme P-series.

Realme’s ambitious move comes against a backdrop of aggressive competition in India’s smartphone market. However, the P-series won’t be Realme’s sole offering in 2024.

The company plans to revive the performance-focused GT series, as revealed by Chase Xu earlier this year. Whereas, Realme is already selling its number series and C-series smartphones in India.

Realme is said to exclusively manufacture the P-series within India, leveraging Oppo’s Noida facility and partnerships with several original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
