Xiaomi has announced a special opportunity for users who pre-ordered the regular edition of the Xiaomi SU7 to adjust their configurations. This is because there’s been a surge in pre-orders that has outpaced the production capacity.

The window for modifications will be open for 24 hours starting at 9:00 AM on April 19th. Users can easily make changes to their pre-orders through the Xiaomi Car App. They can change things like customization, variants of the SU7, and more. If the modifications are successful, production plans will be tweaked, and estimated delivery times will be recalculated accordingly.

This action aims to tackle concerns about production bottlenecks. Xiaomi states its car factory is currently operating at full capacity and working with supply chain partners to ensure existing orders are delivered as soon as possible. Their goal is to streamline future orders and uphold a seamless delivery experience.

The popularity of the SU7 is undeniable. Lei Jun, the founder of Xiaomi, revealed during a recent delivery ceremony that pre-orders surpassed 100,000 within days of the launch, with confirmed orders exceeding 40,000.

Previous reports indicated that Xiaomi had requested suppliers to increase production to 10,000 vehicles per month, with a particular focus on ramping up production of the high-end model.

The original production plan had projected reaching 3,000 vehicles per month by March 2024, followed by 4,000-5,000 in April, and stabilizing at 6,000 by the end of the year. However, due to sales surpassing expectations, sticking to this plan would result in longer delivery times.
