China is gradually reducing its dependency on foreign technology. In this context, companies like Huawei and BYD are frequently mentioned, while companies like UNISOC emerge as unsung heroes. The company, which has long been producing chipsets for mobile devices, had recently made headlines with its T765 5G chip. Now, UNISOC unveils the 7861 chip for POS machines.

UNISOC 7861 for Secure, Multi-Functional Payment Terminals

When you are shopping it’s often easier to pay with cards instead of cash. Many people, including myself, hardly ever use cash anymore. This means more businesses need machines to take card payments. Recognizing this, Unisoc has announced the launch of the UNISOC 7861 chip, created for these card payment machines.

Based on the 12nm process technology, the UNISOC 786, adopts a dual high-performance big core Arm Cortex-A75 at 1.6GHz and six energy-efficient cores Cortex-A55 at 1.6GHz, and is equipped with a Mali G57 GPU core. The processor also supports dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, GNSS positioning services, USB Hub and other features.

It supports LPDDR4x memory and provides UFS 2.2 and eMMC5.1 storage interfaces, and FHD+ display output. The UNISOC 7861 processor currently supports the Android 12 Go system and Android 14 system optimized for small memory (1GB + 8GB).
