A Motorola phone with the model number XT2401-2 has recently received domestic radio approval in China, and all signs point to it being the upcoming moto X50 Ultra. Scheduled for a May release in China, this phone will be the first from Motorola with a focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) features.

The Chinese version of Moto X50 Ultra is expected to have key changes under the hood

While the design seems almost identical to the moto Edge 50 Ultra available in other markets, the Chinese version is expected to have some key differences under the hood. For reference, the international moto Edge 50 Ultra packs a powerful Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 processor, boasts IP68 water resistance, and features a stunning 144Hz OLED display with a centered single-hole punchout. This curved screen boasts a 2712×1220 resolution and an impressive 2500 nits of brightness. The camera system is no slouch either, featuring a triple-lens setup on the back: a large 50MP 1/1.3″ main sensor, a 64MP telephoto lens with 72mm focal length, and a 50MP ultra-wide angle lens. Rounding out the package is a decent 4500 mAh battery with support for speedy 125W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

The China-bound moto X50 Ultra is rumored to focus on improvements in specific areas beyond hardware. These include localized adjustments to its AI capabilities for better performance within the Chinese market, system optimization likely tailored for popular Chinese apps and services, and the potential integration of Lenovo Xiaotian, a popular AI personal assistant service offered by Motorola’s parent company.
