The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S25 series, expected to launch early next year, has been in the spotlight once again. Samsung Mobile President TM Roh recently hinted at the series’ possible adoption of Qualcomm’s newly announced Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. While Roh didn’t explicitly name the Galaxy S25 series, his remarks strongly suggested that at least one model, likely the Galaxy S25 Ultra, will feature this advanced chip.

During the Snapdragon 8 Elite launch, Roh joined the stage to highlight how the chipset will enhance future Galaxy devices. He emphasized that Qualcomm’s focus on intelligent computing and mobile AI advancements will play a key role in the Galaxy AI experience. This aligns with previous leaks and Samsung’s trend of reserving Qualcomm’s latest chipsets for its Ultra models, suggesting that the Galaxy S25 Ultra could exclusively feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Snapdragon 8 Elite could offer major performance improvement to S25 Ultra
The Snapdragon 8 Elite is Qualcomm’s latest flagship mobile platform, offering significant improvements over the Galaxy S24 Ultra‘s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Key advancements include a 40% boost in GPU performance and a 35% enhancement in ray tracing capabilities. These improvements, coupled with a 44% increase in power efficiency, make the chipset ideal for demanding tasks like gaming and multitasking.

The chipset features an upgraded NPU, enhancing AI-related functions by 45%, which should translate to smoother and more responsive user experiences with more complex galaxy AI features.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra, if equipped with this chipset, could benefit from its new Cognitive AI ISP, allowing for smarter image processing and improved photo quality. The Snapdragon 8 Elite’s AI capabilities could also enable more refined camera enhancements, such as real-time scene optimization and advanced photo editing features.
